Children have been re-united with their families right from the beginning. However, in the beginning, it was purely based on willingness of the children and their parents with a commitment for continued schooling of the children. In due course of time, NRF felt a need to encourage selective children and their parents for the children's family re-union. NRF provides financial support, where absolutely needed, for the children's continued education. The ideas behind this approach are to avoid a possible counter-productive message going to communities encouraging more children coming to carpet factories often dropping out of schools, to ensure emotional attachment between the children and their families and for cost effective RUGMARK Rehabilitation programme.

The Foundation carries out detail counselling of a child and the parents and makes an assessment of the overall situation for possibility of the child's family re-union with continued education. NRF signs an agreement with parents for specific support for the schooling and the parents' own responsibility in it. Children often find another incentive too. As children in RUGMARK Centres or schools have a quality education, when they are to join, mostly public schools in their communities, they are upgraded one or two steps after taking a test.

The Foundation also seeks long-term sponsorship or "foster parenting" of orphan children. This could not, however, done in personal capacity. So far, only organisations have been found that have taken over the total responsibility of well being of some children.
